Barsham

Early-nineteenth century Ashmans Hall stands on rising ground, originally with fine views of Beecles to the east and the River Waveney. Once part of the Roos Hall and Ashmans Estate, the large Regency-style country house was built by a member of the Rede family and had a relatively small area of parkland to the east and west plus plantations and groves. It is believed it once had a large walled kitchen garden and a nineteenth century entrance lodge. The house fell into disrepair in the mid-twentieth century and has now been completely restored with new formal gardens created and used for group and holiday accommodation. However, much of the original grounds are now in separate ownership.
